Sometimes even when all applications are up to date and have full access to the camera and microphone, the camera will still fail. This can be due to a misconfiguration of the permissions for the camera itself.
Troubleshooting Video and Camera/Webcam
To double-check the permissions:
- Go to your "Settings" menu.
- On the left side, scroll down to "Security & privacy".
- On the right side, scroll down to "Privacy" and tap it.
- From this menu, select "Permission manager".
- Scroll down and select "Camera".
- In this example you can see that both "Meet" and "Zoom" have access to the camera, but the "Camera" app is not listed as being allowed.

- Scroll down to the "Not allowed" section and select "Camera" from the list.
- Once the page opens, select "Allow only while using the app".
- Use the back button to return to the "Permission manager" page.
- Scroll down the list on the right side and select "Microphone".
- On the "Microphone" permission page, scroll down to the "Not allowed" section and select "Camera" from the list.
- On the Camera's "Microphone" permissions page, select "Allow only while using the app".
- Once these settings are confirmed, return to the "Application" menu and select "Camera" from the list to test it before returning to test your chosen meeting software.
