In this article we will be discussing the basic features and tools included with your Newline board. A Newline board acts in the same way as an android tablet and has similar features and menus.

Front Panel
The front panel on the right hand side of the screen has five buttons on it: "Power", "Volume", "Brightness", "Home", and "Settings".

Power: To power the device on, press the "Power" button.

| Volume: Quick press the volume button to show the volume meter on the screen. Adjust the volume by using the touchscreen. | |
| Brightness: Quick press the brightness button to show a brightness meter on the screen. Adjust the brightness using the touchscreen. | |
| Home: The home button on the front panel will take you back to the home screen without closing any of your running apps, similar to a smart phone or tablet. | |
| Settings: This will open the settings menu that will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and other key settings. |
Cable Ports
The panel on the right hand side of the screen has four ports: one HDMI, two USB 3.0, and one USB-C connection. These ports can be used to connect various devices to display on the screen. You can use any compatible cable to connect your device to the Newline board.
The IT Department will provide you with an HDMI cable with your Newline board.
Remote Control
Included with your Newline board is a remote control. It has the same buttons as the front panel, which can be handy from a short distance away. It is recommended that you stay within 4-5 feet of the board for it to work effectively.

| You can use the "Sources" button to change the device that is currently reflecting on the Newline board. | ||
| You can use the "Freeze" button to freeze the screen if you would like to present a still image or slide. |
Note: The buttons you have on your remote may vary.
Stylus
Included with your Newline board is a Newline stylus. This can be used to navigate and interact with the Newline board.
Note: Any stylus will work with the Newline, even capped pens. However, please avoid using anything that might damage the screen.
Touch Controls
On the Newline display there is a bar along the bottom that offers touch controls. If it's ever not displayed, you can swipe up from the bottom of the screen to display it.
| The Back button (triangle): This allows you to navigate back when using an app or browser. | |
| The Home button (circle): Pressing the home button will take you to the home screen no matter what apps you have open. | |
| The App Switcher (square): This will allow you to switch quickly between apps. You can use the app switcher to view the apps you currently have open, or close apps by swiping them upwards. |
Control Center
If you swipe down from the top of the screen you will be able to access the Control Center, which functions similarly to a smart phone's control center menu. If contains more settings and the Notification Center, and user profiles.
Apps Library
When on the home screen, you can swipe up to access all of the apps installed on your Newline board.
Newline Toolbar
On both the left and right side of the screen, there are white buttons that will open a special Newline toolbar. You can tap either one to open the toolbar, and tap the white button again to close it.
The following buttons can be found on the Newline toolbar, in order from top to bottom:
| OPS Source: This opens a built-in PC, however this is not present on Newline boards provided by Springs. If you tap this by mistake you can exit it using the Home button or Back button on the front panel or on the bottom of the screen. | |
| Home: This will take you to the home screen. | |

Annotation: This will open the annotation toolbar and allow you to write on the screen with your finger or a stylus. When you are done, tap the annotation button again, and this will automatically save a screenshot of your notes to the device and close the annotation menu. |

Whiteboard: This will open the whiteboard app. |
|
|
Quick Access Bar: This opens and closes the Quick Access menu. It has many useful functions. |

Sound Menu: This opens the volume settings. |
|
| App Switcher: This allows you to scroll through, switch between, and close any open apps. | |
| Return: This acts similar to the back button at the bottom of the screen, and will exit whatever app you are currently using. |
