Watch the video above, or read the article below to learn how to host a meeting using your Newline board.
You can launch or host a Zoom meeting directly from your Newline board. Please keep in mind this requires you to sign in with your Zoom Account. When doing this, please make sure to type your password when no one is in the room to protect your privacy.
Additionally, when you are done, it is required that you sign out of your Zoom account. If you leave your account signed in, anyone who has physical access to the panel will be able to access your Zoom account and make changes. Always treat a Newline board as a shared device!
How to run through a Zoom Meeting from start to finish
-
Open your application screen and launch the Zoom application from your Newline board.
- Tap "Sign in" to begin.
- Type your Springs email into the input field that says "Enter your account". Then tap "Next" to proceed.
- Enter your password, then click "Sign in" to proceed to the next step.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: It is important that you do not ever sign in with others in the room. Typing on the on-screen keyboard will easily expose your password for anyone who can see it. Please give yourself enough time to sign in before the start of a meeting to protect your account information.
- You may be prompted to update your application. Please do so if given the opportunity.
- Zoom may prompt you to enter your phone number and a verification code. You do not need to do this, simply click "Skip for now and sign in" to continue.
On the Zoom Home screen you can access all of the features you may need.
- If you have a scheduled meeting that you are hosting, it will be listed on the right side of the screen. Tap "Start" to begin the meeting.
- Zoom will ask permission to access your installed camera. Select "OK" to grant that permission.
- You will be taken to a screen that will allow you to test your camera and microphone before starting the meeting. Tap the microphone or camera icons to toggle the microphone or camera on or off.
- Once you are ready, tap "Start".
Once you are in the meeting, Zoom will operate very similarly to how it does on a computer.
- All of the typical Zoom functions are available in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.
- If the toolbar disappears due to inactivity, tap anywhere on the screen to reopen it.
Once you are done with your meeting, tap the red "End" button on the Zoom toolbar and select "End meeting for all" when prompted to end the call.
Sharing your screen
- To share your screen, select the "Share" button on the Zoom toolbar.
- In the options menu that opens, tap the "Screen" button at the top to begin sharing.
- Zoom will ask you to start recording or casting. Tap "Start now" to begin.
- NOTE: Be aware that meeting participants will be able to see your full window and its content, so don't share any private information by mistake!
- When you begin sharing your screen, there will be a green border that will indicate the area that is being shared.
- To access the content you wish to share, you may tap the Newline buttons at the bottom of the screen or on the front panel to navigate to it. It is recommended to have the application open ahead of time and quickly use the app switcher to view your content. You are still sharing your screen even if you've navigated to another app.
-
When you are done sharing, use the Application Switcher to return to the Zoom app and select "Stop share" on the Zoom toolbar.
Signing out
To reiterate, it is very important that you sign out of your Zoom account when you are done using your Newline board in order to defend your own privacy!
To sign out when you are finished:
-
Tap your profile picture on the Zoom Home screen. This will open your account information.
- Tap "Settings".
- Scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen, then tap "Sign out".
- Tap "Sign out" in the lower right corner to proceed.
- Tap "Sign out" again when prompted to finish signing out.
