In order to order a repair or replacement for a student Chromebook, you will need to have the Serial Number to give to your technician over the phone or through an IT trouble ticket. Normally this number is on the bottom of the device, but sometimes the sticker falls off or the numbers smudge away, so there is also a way to access the device information from the Chromebook login screen.
The location of the serial number on the device may vary depending on which device you have, but they could be found in one of these areas:
If you cannot find the serial number on the device, then follow the steps below to find the serial number on the Chromebook login screen:
- Make sure the student is signed out of the device and that you are looking at the sign in screen.
- On your keyboard, press the Alt+V keys at the same time.
- In the upper right hand corner of the screen, text will appear. It will have the software version number, platform number, and finally the serial number.
- The numbers after the "SN:" are the numbers you will give to your technician.
