MySprings has now enabled Two Factor Authentication, also known as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), to better ensure the security of your account.
In order to log into MySprings, you need the Google Authenticator app on your phone.
Note: Google Authenticator is only available on mobile devices. It is not available as a desktop application!
Downloading Google Authenticator
- Visit one of the following places on your mobile device to download it:
- Once you have it downloaded, open the app. On the start-up screen, tap the "Get started" button.
- On the second screen, you can either sign in with a non-Springs email OR click "Use Authenticator without an account". It is crucial that you do not sign in with your Springs email account! (You can't sign in without an verification code, which you can only get... by signing in. Signing in with your Springs email will effectively lock you out of your account!)
- After that you will be taken to the main screen. If you selected "Use Authenticator without an account" or have never used Authenticator before, the screen will look like this:
If you've used Authenticator before, you will have a list of codes for different services requiring MFA.
After that is done, proceed with the following instructions.
Setting up your authenticator after logging in for the first time
- Navigate to my.springscs.org and log in to your MySprings account.
- You will see a message prompting you to enable Two Factor Authentication. Click the blue "Enable" button to proceed.
- You will see a screen with a QR code on it.
- Open Google Authenticator on your mobile device and tap the "+" plus sign in the bottom right corner of the screen. Then tap "Scan a QR code".
- Once you have scanned the QR code, a new entry should appear on your Google Authenticator list. Memorize the code it gives you.
-
Return to MySprings and input the code in the "Enter Two Factor Code" field, then click the blue "Enter" button.
- Note that each code will only be valid for 30 seconds each, so if the code changes while you are entering it, you must return to Google Authenticator to retrieve the newest active code and enter that one instead. You will know if the code is about to expire if the numbers and countdown timer on the right side turns red.
