Process and procedures to receive a student Chromebook ILP
Enrollment
- If you are in a homeschool program then a device can be provided for your student's full time use. It will be checked out to your student and will have the ASSIGN status.
- The Chromebook will be shipped out to your home (*PO Boxes do not work*) along with instructions on how to login and update equipment.
- There is the option to purchase insurance, which costs $25 for each device. Each insurance is good for the life of the Chromebook or 1 repair. To purchase, login to MySprings, click on Students -> Devices -> Purchase insurance.
- If insurance is not purchased then any repairs will come at a cost to the family. Keep in mind insurance does not cover a lost or stolen item, and the family will be responsible for the cost to replace a device.
Don't Want a Chromebook?
- If you choose to use your own technology, your Chromebook status will be AS NEEDED. When you choose this, a device will still be available for your child to use strictly for state testing in the Spring.
- Please reach out to your ES in the beginning of the new year to discuss how your student will be testing.
Leaving Springs
- If your student withdraws from Springs and has the status ASSIGN, then the device must be turned in as soon as possible to the Springs IT Department. Reach out to your ES and they will contact the IT Department so that we can send a shipping label. You may also drop the device at the IT office.
- Any damages will be billed unless insurance was purchased for the device.
- If the device is not returned to Springs within a month of withdrawal date you will receive a bill for the cost to replace the device.
